Colors of Asia was created to highlight the beauty and diversity that makeup Asia, where I've been living for the past five years. Growing up in a small Midwestern town in the US, I never imagined I would get to experience Asia's rich cultural and religious aspects. After five years and a considerable amount of travel, I've only barely scratched the surface, but I'm happy to have the chance to share some of the wonderful experiences that I've had
In the heart of Vietnam, nestled beneath the timeless shadow of Hanoi, lies the quaint hamlet of Quang Phu Cau. It's a place where the very air is steeped in tradition, and nearly every soul is a guardian of an ancient craft – the art of incense stick-making.
This was shot during a trip to India to celebrate Holi, the Festival of Colors. The journey started in Mathura, India, considered the birthplace of the Hindu God, Krishna, and closely linked to Holi.

Not too far from the capital of Vietnam is a capital from a distant past. Ninh Binh, outside of Hanoi, was the capital of Vietnam in the 10th & 11th centuries. The lush landscape and rock formations made for a beautiful trip.
Two Monks can be seen blowing into conch shells, which is said to represent the sound of the Dharma, the teachings of Buddha. This was photographed in Darjeeling, India.
On the banks of the Ganges River in Varanasi, you can witness the nightly Aarti ceremony. It was my first domestic trip while living in India, and I'm grateful to have had the chance to travel to Varanasi.
